Come downtown to enjoy a fun-filled weekend along the Grand River. Large outdoor concerts provide continuous entertainment. Also stop by the Calder Plaza where the Hispanic Festival takes place on the same weekend. Enjoy Hispanic performers and shop among the many booths. The weekend ends with an amazing fireworks display.

Festival of the Arts

The Grand Rapids Festival of the Arts is the nation’s largest all-volunteer arts festival and draws over 500,000 people every year. From noon on Friday to 6 p.m. on Sunday, choose from 6 different stages providing non-stop live entertainment. Peformances include the Grand Rapids Ballet, Symphony, and Civic Theater. Also enjoy visual arts displays that feature sculpture, painting, film and photography. The Children’s Museum and Public Museum also provide free admission during scheduled times. Participate in hands-on art for both kids and adults and enjoy 30 food booths featuring a vast array of ethnic foods provided by local churches and civic organizations.

Tulip Time

For ten days, marvel at the amazing changes as the town of Holland, MI is transformed into the country of Holland. With over 500,000 visitors to the festival every year, Tulip Time has become the fifth largest festival in the United States! The landscape is filled with a colorful array of tulips. Over 1400 Klompen dancers in full Dutch traditional costumes bring the downtown area to life. Make sure to reserve a great spot to watch any of three parades throughout the celebration.

Coast Guard Festival
Downtown Grand Haven

Put on by the U.S. Coast Guard, this festival is full of fun for the whole family. Come and tour the inside of real Coast Guard ships and sit back and relax while watching the Coast Guard Parade. Other attractions include an outdoor arts-and-craft show; 1-mile, 5k, and 10k runs; a carnival; food and much more! A water ski show takes place in the channel and the week ends with a Musical Fountain performance at dusk and a spectacular fireworks display follows.

International Hot Air Balloon Championship

Over 150 hot air balloons splash color across the sky all day long for over 1 million spectators. If power and speed are what you like, a full-fledged air show is also a part of this event. Enjoy fireworks not only once, but two times on both July 2nd and 4th. Concerts and other entertainment abound along with a carnival.

For two days, join 5,000 to 7,500 other visitors in celebrating kites. View the newest high-tech kites and watch them perform amazing stunts. Participate in competitions, games and contests under a sky filled with vibrant color.
